There are a lot of different stages of the editing process. As an editor, I offer help in various forms, based on what your manuscript needs.
Basic Proofreading
This option covers the most basic of editing options. I will read through your manuscript fully, making grammatical changes, formatting changes, and commenting on basic problems with structure, plot, etc. After going through the manuscript once, I will go back over the suggestions/changes I have made, editing them accordingly.
Basic Edit
This covers everything that is covered by the basic proofreading option. In addition, I will go through your manuscript two full times, offering suggestions for areas to expand character development; tracking the story's time line; and generally offering any other opinions or ideas.
Full Edit
This includes everything in the basic edit, but once I have finished the basic edit, I will send the manuscript back to you for revisions. I will then go over the manuscript another time, after the changes have been made.
In Depth Edit
This is the most detailed of editing options. This involves everything previous edits list, but with multiple back and forth readings. I will offer detailed suggestions regarding plot, style, etc. I will give the manuscript back to you, allowing you to make necessary changes, then I will go over it. I will do this as many times as necessary. If wanted, this can involve me reading the book in chunks as it is being written. It may include brainstorming sessions between the two of us. Whatever it takes, we will do it.
